My name is Kelley Magowan and I’m the Registered Dietitian for Carolina Dining Services at UNC-Chapel Hill. I was born in “the Steel City” of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (GO STEELERS!) and moved with my family to Raleigh, North Carolina when I was 10 years old. I attended high school at Leesville Road High and completed my bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics from Western Carolina University. I did my dietetic internship through East Carolina University where I was located in New Bern, NC for nine months working at the local hospital, health department, and child nutrition department. I then went on to complete my master’s degree in nutrition from East Carolina University where I also worked as the nutrition graduate assistant for ECU’s Campus Recreation and Wellness Center, and Student Health Center. Since completing my master’s degree and passing the Registered Dietitian Exam, I was proudly recruited to be a member of Carolina Dining Services.
“The CDS Dish” is a blog that I have created for the students of UNC as another way to educate, spread awareness, and chat about nutrition and what CDS has to offer. There will be biweekly blog postings about various nutrition hot topics and CDS updates where you can post your thoughts, opinions and questions. I want to hear what you have to say!
Other links that will be available to you on the blog are:
- Delish Dish: where you can find healthy, easy recipes.
- Nutrition News: where you can access and read about the lastest news, updates and research articles on nutrition.
- Orange You Glad You Asked: where you can post questions to me and other students or you can be linked directly to my email address to ask me any personal questions you may have.
- Upcoming Events: where you can find out what CDS programs and events are happening this month.
What are some nutrition topics you would like to discuss, or what is something you are interested in learning about?
